Delilah “Lilah” Hixson

 06/07/2010 - 02/07/2023

Lilah, our sweet and spirited companion, crossed the rainbow bridge on February 7, 2023, at the age of 12. From her puppy days to her golden years, Lilah brought warmth, comfort, and joy to everyone she met—but especially to her family.

Lilah came into Josh’s life when she was just around six months old, during a time when he needed her most. For a while, it was just the two of them—and in those quiet days, they built a bond that was truly extraordinary. She was his constant, his comfort, and his best friend. Their connection was unlike any we’ve ever known between a dog and her person.

When Ali met Josh not long after, Lilah welcomed her with open paws and a wagging tail. Always happy to see her, always gentle and full of affection—Lilah made it clear from the beginning that her heart was big enough for the whole family. As their family grew, so did Lilah’s role. When her human siblings, Elora and Kian, were born, Lilah instinctively became their protector. Patient, kind, and watchful, she reminded us of Nana from Peter Pan—a true guardian and playmate rolled into one. She never once lost her patience, even with little hands tugging at her ears or climbing onto her back.

Lilah’s love extended to every member of the household. When Luna, her dog sister, joined the family, the two quickly became inseparable—sisters and best friends in every way. Despite her size, Lilah always played gently, full of joy and care. And when Rocket the tabby cat arrived, Lilah took on her big-sister role once more. Though cats and dogs aren’t always known to get along, Lilah and Rocket defied the odds. They played, cuddled, and shared a bond all their own. Since Lilah’s passing, Rocket has clearly missed his companion.

Lilah’s days were filled with simple joys—walks to the ice cream shop, meeting the kids at the bus stop after school, and romping through the house with Luna and Rocket. She had a gift for making life sweeter, for being exactly what each of us needed.

More than just a pet, Lilah was family. She gave us over a decade of laughter, comfort, protection, and unconditional love. Her spirit lives on in our hearts, our memories, and the quiet spaces of our home that she made brighter by simply being there.

Lilah is deeply missed and forever loved by her dad Josh, mom Ali, her human siblings Elora and Kian, and her animal siblings Luna and Rocket. She also leaves behind her loving grandparents Doug and Kimmy, and her devoted uncles Shane and Shawn, all of whom cherished her as part of the family.

Rest easy, Lilah girl. You were a very good dog—and we will love you forever.
